Stay Now

Handlettered with acrylic on Hark! and Cave handmade papers with woven elements. Coptic binding with linen thread, Drop spine case. 12.5 x 9.5 inches, 20 pages. Private collection.
Stay Now was written during the contentious 2024 election year and inspired by handmade paper in changing shades of green and indigo. During another time of stress I found a print of a Chinese scroll by Qian Xuan from 13th century China. In delicate brushstrokes he painted dragonflies, grasshoppers and tiny fish in a pond's marsh. It's a fleeting moment of time like this moment, this year. The Quaker writer, Thomas Kelly wrote, "Stay now, thou art so sweet." I wrote words by varous authors and some of my own.
